The tour will take you to the discovery of SPERIMENTAREA located in the Bosco della Città di Rovereto.
It is a unique structure where the philosophy of the Museum of the City of Oak grows fully, alongside collections, objects, meticulously collected data, and accompanies experimentation, research and thought. In this vast area of science, there are unpublished activities, unique in Italy, open to both the school and training world as well as to the industrial and professional research.
At Sperimentarea you can become interested in botanical and zoological knowledge (with areas reserved for officinal and poisonous plants). In addition to traditional observations, research and experiments are carried out using robotics and new technologies to better understand nature. In the experiment in Sperimentarea, it is accompanied by the ability to observe live biology and bee activities, the realization of simple robots that recreate the method of vision and bee movement, or research related to the Meteoapi project, which studies life in a mood in relation to external weather conditions, through humidity, temperature, brightness and other parameters developed by the museum and other partners. In the natural area there are also ants, a wet area for the study of amphibians and spaces dedicated to breeding silkworm, turtles and butterflies. The use of robotics in the teaching of natural sciences is part of a very important European project, Terecop, of which the Museum is the protagonist.
An important area of Sperimentarea is dedicated to a Test Area for geophysical methods, where different ‘targets’ are buried, consisting of different materials, dry walls and different texture structures. In simple words, you have the ability to test methods that, without digging, and thus in a little invasive and non-destructive manner to the environment, giving you the ability to figure out what’s in the subsoil. This is of great interest in the archaeological field, for example to understand what can be expected to be found in preparation for an excavation, but also for those who have to manage and protect the territory: not by chance the Civic Museum has used these methods for years Monitor, for example, the banks of the river Adige.
In addition to Sperimentarea, you can test low-altitude aerial photography methods with kites and search and documentation streams, which have been successfully tested in two expeditions of the Patagonia Museum with the discovery of important remains of dinosaurs.
But it does not end here: there are many archaeological excavation simulations in the scientific citadel and the possibility of carrying out numerous experimental archeology activities.Students and professionals are also provided with a fully equipped home automation system by ITEA with home automation devices, which consistently concludes the didactic and scientific pathway carried out on the territory by the Civic Museum on the theme of Aitement in time, which is part of the Castellano prehistoric settlements From the Roman period of Isera to the medieval ones of Castelcorno.Sperimentarea as a physical site is alongside the web of Science http://www.sperimentarea.tv.
